He is a Quaker parrot that’s only 6 months old. he doesn’t nod his head to me although when someone else comes over to pet him while he is in his cage he starts nodding his head and if you try to pet him he will start biting them. What does it mean when parrots nod there heads like that?

I can’t really give you an answer to your question but it sounds like he may not have been hand raised to well,or had interaction with people. This doesn’t mean that all hand raised will not bite, but he may feel that he has to protect himself. My bird will not go to my wife unless I make him.My friends Quaker will do the same thing that your bird does. Just remember it’s his cage and if you invade his area your friends may get bit.
Haha mine does that too. Hes a quaker, and my BABY! If he does it when hes about to bite people, hes mad. I can always tell when mines about to bite someone b/c he does that. Now, If i nod my head and sing or dance he will nod his head, but its different from the mad nod. You will just have to be able to tell the difference so you can prevent anyone from getting harmed.lol like I do; he hates everyone except for me
he loves me
good luck! peace, love, and quaker parrots!
Quaker nod there heads when they like whats going on.When they bite they bite you will find out they wont nod there head they will bite you.
