I just got a phone calling from doggie day care that my dog bit another smaller dog (and needs stiches). The day care has a policy of keeping smaller dogs in a separate area from larger dogs and I have no idea if this other dog was being aggressive towards mine or not.
How should this play out in terms of the vet bills? I’m expecting I’ll have to pay for the vet bills and be banned from day care.
It depends on the owners of the injured dog. If they ask that you pay then you should. If they don’t then don’t pay for it. You can ask the daycare if they have the incident on video. The kennel I work at that does daycare always has the dogs on video. You may or may not be banned. Sometimes a dog is overly aggressive and will be banned and sometimes it was just a bad situation that won’t get you banned. Ask.
I would think that the day care was responsible for keeping that from happening. They are the ones with care and control of the dogs, after all. They should be responsible for the bills, in my opinion.
well you could always ask if they have video of the incident, I personally wouldn’t leave a dog at a day care that didn’t have video of the areas they keep them just in case of incidents like this. I think you’ll probably have to pay the bill, depending on what happened I don’t know if you’ll be banned or not
Good luck!~
You will have to pay if you dog bites another dog.
bl
u do
You will if you cant get proof it was the day care or the other dogs fault and he will most likely be banned
So your dog is small also? Or your dog is a larger dog. If your dog is the latter, there might be a chance you can get the daycare to front the bill since there was a violation of policy, argue that maybe this never would have happened if they had been doing their job correctly. They put the other dog in danger by not following protocol. If you think you’re going to be banned anyway, I guess you have nothing to lose. Otherwise the bill is on you.
No, if they have a policy they pay the bills.
Legally, it depends on where you live and their local dog bite laws. I am also assuming that when you first dropped your dog off at day care there was some type of release or policies form you signed. I would take a look at this. In order to own a dog day care I am sure you would need pretty hefty liability insurance to cover these incidences.
