Since I obviously don’t know your home address, I do not know which one would be closest to you but this site has a list of animal shelters near Santa Clarita, CA!

Approx $6,600 the 1st year, plus keep at least 2000 on hand-Pups are noctorious for eating something they shouldn’t requiring a hefty surgery fee! You can cut down on purchase cost by adopting from a shelter, and many shelter also include spay/neuter, before allowing the dog to come home, already included in the adoption fee

Approx yearly cost after 1st year $2485.00

Total over the life of a 14 year old dog=$38,905.00

Unscarred Children (and Adults). If a puppy does not teeth on your possesions, it will teeth on you and your children. Rescuers often get calls from panicked parents sure their dog is about to seriously injure their children. It usually turns out the puppy is just doing what puppies do, i.e., mouth or nip. Parents, too emotional to see the difference, just want to get rid of the dog. A growing puppy is going to put anything and everything in their mouth. It must be taught bite inhibition. As the puppy grows, the puppy’s jaws become stronger and its teeth are replaced by its adult teeth. The mouthing and nipping it did as a puppy now can have serious consequences. Far better to get an adult dog 2years+ that has "been there, done that, moved on

Every pet store in the SC valley has pet adoption days. I’d go see what the schedule is at the ones close to you, and then start going to them and getting an idea of what the different groups offer in types of dogs.
