What is the average monthly costs per month to wn and care for a small dog?

I was wondering what people are paying to care for their dogs on a monthly basis. I have a small dog and am wondering if I’m spending too much on my dog. After adding things up, mine comes out to 0 a month.

If you can itemize something, the biggies on your list like food, that would be greatly helpful.

Thanks.
Oh and I just so the typo in the main question. It’s supposed to say "to OWN and care for a small dog". Sorry about that.

I don’t know about a small dog but it will most likely cost less because you wont have to buy as much food. According tot his website i found it says the monthly cost of owning a dog is from $60-$235 ($200-$700 per year). IF you go to the website listed below they have a chart for food costs and everything. I hope this helps. :)

    Approx yearly cost $2485.00

Total over the life of a 14 year old dog $38,905.00

Average cost you are paying for per year 110 x 12= 1, 320, that seem incrediable cheap figure consider i spend normal over 2,000 per year for my dog. include cheap vet bills, and the average cost is around 2,500 per year

Costs are a bit cheaper in my area than some of the costs I have seen above.

I spend probably about $400 a year on all things vet related (immunizations, heartworm preventative, check up costs, etc.).

The cost of dog food per month runs about $20, but I buy NutroMax which is not the cheap stuff. My dog also does not wear out his bowls, bedding, crate, leashes, etc. so those things we bought years ago are still perfectly fine. We buy "Greenie" treats and bones occasionally, I couldn’t guess accurately on that.

We buy a new collar probably about twice a year, so that’s maybe $25 in collar expenses.

We groom the dog ourselves on a regular basis, except for the nail trimming and gland draining. We don’t do the nails because they are too dark and we don’t want to draw blood. The glands exceed my limits on the gross factor and I believe that service is well worth the money. Usually, to get nails trimmed and glands drained, it costs me $10 total, and it gets done when needed.

So, very roughly, we spend about $750 a year. ($62.50 per month)

I think this depends on the cost of living in your area, the size of the dog, and the complexity of the dog’s coat, among other things.

    Hope this helps! :-)
