Hi Hannah. Don’t be sad you’re only allowed to get a fish, they’re awesome pets. Firstly, you should read about cycling a fish tank. This is very important for your fish to survive. http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php
Secondly, here is a website about guppy care. I just want to say never put a female and male guppy since they breed a lot. I suggest you get atleast a 10 gallon fish tank and you can do 4-6 guppies.

Best of luck to you.
1. hmmm, males only if you do. But that might not be a smart choice.
2. Try getting a 10 gallon tank./ Anything smaller won’t be good.
3. I’d get 1 male fancy guppy. Then look into tetras.
If you can, try to find "Diamond Head Tetra" or just get some neon tetras.
4. you NEED a heater
5. YOU need a filter (they usually come with tank kits)
6. Fish tanks are NOT gerbil cages, as they are used sometimes, they were meant for fish! And reptiles/amphibians
7. Get gravel [any color] (NO MARBLES or STONES as these are BAD)
8. Set everything up, wait at LEAST – 2 weeks (cycling your tank and getting the tank set up)
9. go get your fish. =]
Guppys are great fish. I was 13 when i got my first fishtank. The first fish i got were platys and guppys. They are both livebearers and are very easy to take care of. Another easy keeper are black widow tetras and danios. Danios are my favorite fish. They swim at the top of the tank and NEVER stop moving! I would recommend buying a 10 gallon(or bigger) starter kit. It makes things really easy, and its a great deal -that’s what i got
You will also need a stand. Fish tanks can way a few hundred pounds when full so you need to make sure the table/stand can support it. The last thing you want is for your fish tank to crush the table, crack and get water and dead fish everywhere! You will also need to buy a gravel vacuum. Use it once a month to suck up food/poop from the bottom. You’ll also need to top off the tank weekly (because of evaporation) and replace the filter cartridge once a month.
Fish are easy to keep and fun to watch. I hope you can get some. Good Luck!
