My dog is having puppies right Now!Help!?
My dog got pregnant when i was at school, because my dad accidently let her out the house when she was in heat, now she starting labour, she hasnt really "started yet so i have time to get the things i need because i live next to a place thats sells alot of dog supplies.
Can you give me a list on what i need to buy? (My dad used or old wadding pool to set up a whelping box.) and can you Tell me what the hell to do (dont tell me let nature take its coarse)? It needs to be detailed. A webiste would be alright to.
HURRY!!!
I called the vet and she says she will be right over but it may take a 30-45 minute drive.

You’re going to need a LOT of towels, scissors, and a nasal aspirator. The aspirator is the blue plastic thing shaped like a light bulb that you will use to remove liquid from the pup’s mouth and nose. You can purchase one at your local store in the baby dept. I know Walmart sells them!
If the vet is coming over, you will have competent help, so don’t worry.

leave the dog alone she can handle the birthing. I know my dog had puppys and ever thing was fine.
A warm dry towel and a warm damp towel. The damp one to help clean the puppies as they come. Wrap them up one at a time and gently rub them. Place all the puppies on the warm dry towel until the mother can tend to them. The mother will do most of the work though. She will chew the cords herself. If you see a puppie with the sack still on it though you will need to burst that yourself.

Well I’m not sure if I’ll be much help since the last time I helped my dog give birth was about 12 years ago. Here what I remember.
Get a box of some sort with some old towels or something that you don’t mind getting blood on. Make sure your dog is comfortable. There really isn’t much that you can do in terms of helping her push. One thing that I learned the hard way, was to make sure she cuts the bag and eats it after the puppies are born. If she doesn’t do that, then you will have to get something (preferably sanitized and none toxic) to cut the bag with. If the bag is not opened, the puppy can suffocate. Also, make sure she eats it even if you cut it because she will need the nutrients.

Towels, nose sucker, Scissors, and patients and quiet. Sit and watch your dog, but leave her alone unless she is struggling. Dont have lots a people around. Watch her closely. Once a puppy comes out, let mom break the sac, if she doesnt break the sac yourself. Please dont yank or pick up puppy with out being sure the PLACENTA came out too. If you pull on that umbilical cord you can give the puppy a hernia. if mom is intrested place puppy with placenta infront of her. Mom will do the rest. If not then you need to cut the cord about 2 to 3 inches away from the belly. Then again leave mom alone. Mom will do most of it, seriously I swear. If the doctor is come in 30 minutes then there isnt a need to mess with her much. Let someone who knows what to do help her.
Hi, my mom has had years of experience in breeding dogs. She says right away you need a heating pad, something to wipe the puppies off with like a towel or cloth diaper, dental floss to tie off the umbilical cords, an asperator to suction out thier mouths. In a day you will need a small scale to find out if they are gaining weight or losing weight. If they are losing weight you may need puppy formula and small nursing bottles. I hope this helps. You are very lucky to have a vet coming it isn’t really necessary though. First you need to calm down. You do not need to go buy anything. Find a box around the house she will fit comfortably into. Line the box with some clean towels, and encourage he into the box. You likely will need to do nothing but watch, mom with do all the work. As she delivers each pup she will lick of the sac and bite through the cord. If she doesn’t this is when you may need to help. With a clean towel rub the puppy till he starts breathing, the cord can be tied with string or cut, and place the puppy back with mom. There will be several minutes between each pup. This is natural, try an stay clam and enjoy the marvel.
