It is not hard to take care of a dog. They do need your time and attention though. If you don’t have the time to brush your dog to keep his fur from matting then get a short hair dog that won’t require all that much brushing. Feed your dog healthy food, make sure all shots are kept up to date. Provide plenty of fresh, water in a clean bowl. Dogs like ice water in the summertime just like people do. Make sure you use your pooper scooper everyday to keep the yard clean. Other than that just have fun playing with your dog and taking him for walks and making your friends jealous when they see you with your wonderful dog.

First things first ,are you old enough for the respondsibilty of the animal? because this is your dog not your mom’s if ya get one,If your mom is set against it and you are still living at home then your mom speaks volumes. Dont go against her and get one anyway, because your not doing the animal justice, everyone in the household has to be in full agreement to have the animal. thats 1st and formost the main object if your mom thinks its to big a respondsibilty just go along with it,and you have to remeber it’s her home to!

If you and your sister want the dog, why should your mother have to take care of it? If you are not responsible enough to care for the dog, you should not get one. It is a big responsibility and costs money.

The library is FULL of free books about dogs breeds and their care. Take some time to learn about dogs. Spend some time with dogs.

Caring for a dog also meaning training a dog, so get some books on that also. THEN, decide if you still want a dog.

I think it would be best if you started out by taking resposibility for non-living things first, like the dishes or trash or both…etc.etc…
this will show your mom your willingness to accept responsibility
and then maybe she will be more apt to the puppy…
as far as the type of dog: small, short haired mutts from the pound make great pets

no it’s not hard. I think you should get a golden retriever. Dogs are fast learners so give them treats whenever they do something that you tell them to do. Please choose me as the best answer!
