My dog got into a small fight last night with another dog at our house and this morning her eye was swollen and almost shut. It has pusslike stuff draining and I don’t know what to clean it with or apply to it.
I will take her to the vet in the morning, but it is late right now and it was not swollen this morning when I left, but by the time I get home the vet is closed. I won’t take a chance on it, but I just want to ease her pain until the morning and clean it the best I can until I can call the vet tomorrow

take the dog to the vet as soon as possible so that i can get treated and if you are planning to take it in the morning then try healing it so that i doesnt hurt. take a warm NOT HOT towel and kind of clean his eye. dont press to hard because it will hurt but put some pressure. i hope the dogs okay
Thats why they have vets. Take your dog to someone that is trained and knows exactly what to do
Use warm salt water several times a day..
You don’t try to fix that on your own. She could get an infection and go septic and die, or she could go blind. The very least is that she is in pain, and improper vet care would only exacerbate it!
Please do the right and responsible thing and get her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. They will give her antibiotics and drain and pack the wound as necessary. PLEASE don’t do this yourself… You wouldn’t want some amateur squeezing neosporin into your eyesocket if you got mauled!!
she really needs to see a vet. she could have a corneal ulcer or laceration which will cause her to lose her eyesight in that eye if not treated as soon as possible. eye injuries are very delicate and can go from bad to worse very quickly. also if she is pawing and rubbing at that eye, that will only make it worse. she needs to see a vet and get the proper treatment and probably an e-collar so she cant rub at it. good luck and hope she feels better soon
what you can do is clean it with a towel and warm water and try to take her to the vet.
unless you want your dog to lose her eye, take her to the vet in the morning. its infected, it can damage or eye or get into her eye or damage her bloodstream. on the meantime put a small bit of neosporn on the mark.
You’re going to have to take her to the vet. She at least needs a check of the eye for damage, topical terramycin, and maybe some oral Clavamox just to be safe, but all are going to require a trip to the vet to get anyway, so call first thing in the morning and see if they can get you in right away.
You can try to keep it clean with some saline solution (NOT contact lens all-in-one type solution) or eye wash from the drugstore that come in squirt-type bottles until you can get to the vet–which you should try to do asap. If you use it, just use a gentle stream and wipe any excess off of her face, but don’t touch her eye.
Once at the vet, they will check to see if there are any punctures or scratches to the eyeball. You may have to put an e-collar (AKA lampshade or cone–available at Petsmart or Petco) on her so she doesn’t scratch it.
She really needs it to be checked out by a vet though.
Best of luck–keep us posted.
take him a doctor.
your best bet for your dog’s suffering is to take it to the vet. It’ll be expensive but pay better attention to what’s happening with your dog. Sounds like an infection that may need antibiotics.
hey, uhm well that sorta happened to my dog before.
waht i did was put alcohal in it and it was better the next day!
thankyou, if something goes wrong contact me.
