Good Luck with your new addition!
somewhere for it to sleeep, definitely – whether it be a house for outside with bedding, or a dog bed inside.
also i remember my dog was very confused and miserable the first night, so you might want to play with her, give her some toys, take her for a walk, and give her a longlasting chew as a Welcome Home present.
Hope this helps.Good on you for deciding to adopt!

For the food, ask the shelter what the dog is currently being fed. You need to feed him the food he’s already on at first and gradually change it to something else if you want him on a different food. Otherwise he’ll get the runs really bad.
Collar, leash, toys, treats, bedding, a large crate, baby gate (esp. if introducing two dogs), flea/tick medication, and schedule a vet visit for sometime within 72 hours of bringing your dog home. You can buy other things over time like brushes, shampoo, ear cleaning stuff, nail clippers, etc. When we got our dog, we stopped at Petsmart & had them give her a bath before we even brought her home.
As for toys, Kongs are GREAT for big dogs. My dog is a greyhound and she can rip up any cloth/soft toy within minutes of bringing it home. Kongs are the only toys that last in our house. Stuff it with peanut butter and he/she will be entertained for hours =)
Enjoy your new friend!
