Can i put use this big bag of left over hamster shavings for the bottom of my parrot’s cage? I have a brand new bag of Natural Pine wood shavings and i was wondering if i could start using that for the bottom of my Quaker Parrot’s cage? I read somewhere that Pine isn’t good for them but elsewhere says different? Any experts wanna help me out?

I thought it was okay to use pine litter once… and then I had to take my bird to the vet for a respiratory infection, even though I changed it often. Pine bedding has fumes and is a breeding ground for bacteria. Even if your cage has a grate, your bird is still in danger of infection and other breathing problems.
You can use newspaper, CareFresh, paper towels, and there are various bird litters you can use as well. Do NOT use pine!
