Baby Turtle or Hermit Crab?

I need help
I am thinking about buying myself another pet
I have the choice of buying a hermit crab and a baby turtle
Which is easier to take care of and cost less?
What is the total cost of everything like the pet and the supplies?
I have 3 guinea pigs and 2 fish
Thanks!

    I’d go with the hermit crab… UNLESS…

You have about $200 to put into a proper setup for a turtle, and a book on the care and maintenance of whatever species you plan on getting, and 35 years of your life to devote to the proper care of it.

10 gallons of water per inch of carapace (top shell) length (most turtles in the pet trade will reach about a foot long). Basking area, UVB lighting, heat lamp, filter (marketed as being for turtles or rated for about twice the water volume it will be filtering)… a better diet than just the pellets or sticks from the store because those should really only comprise about a quarter of a turtle’s total diet… they’re not nutritionally complete… even with a filter you’ll be doing water changes at least once every two weeks (more often as the turtle grows).

For the answerer who had their turtle for a whopping 2 years, you didn’t even get a drop in the bucket that they’re capable of if that’s as long as you had it.

Even if you go with the hermit crab, I’d do more than just ask the people at the pet store how to take care of it… there’s books on the care and maintenance of so many different types of animals, and when you read those books and follow the advice in them, you get a healthier animal that lives longer… it’s amazing what a bit of self-education can do.

    Baby Turtle all the way!!!!

reason 1: I loooove turtles lol

reason 2: I had one for two years and they are cute and easy to take care of.

reason 3: food is very cheap and just buy a good tank and a very good filter and ur good to go!

buy a hermit crab cuz they need much less room, water, food and coost less and plus at petsmart they have little kits for them for only $20.00

The hermit crab would be more fun to watch.
The only expense would be the pigs.
You need to worry more that you don’t end up like thay boy
in My Godfish is Evil. Neat show eh?
    Good luck
