Is it OK to feed a kitten adult cat food? We ordered our food shopping online and they have sent us a 2 month supply of adult cat food! Very annoying!
Do we need to return it and replace it with kitten food? Our kitten is about 15/16 weeks old. Before we bought her she was living on pet mince and lambs hearts so she hasn’t been on a kitten food specific diet up until now, I have fed her fish and kitten food for the past 2 days while she has been living with us.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance xx
To the first answer from…Farisha I think…I didn’t say anything about feeding her HUMAN food.
I am talking about adult cat food.
To Ryan’s answers, that was copied and pasted from another persons question and had a lot in it that didn’t apply to me in any way. We don’t have an adult cat, we got sent the wrong kind of food.
To the second person who answered, thank you, you actually read the question! x
Kittens need to eat foods designed for kittens. Kitten and adult cat food have different nutrients and ingredients that are important for each one uniquely.
what do u mean? well, cats need to eat their own food, giving them human food are kind of bad.like giving it human milk is bad, giving it real fish & other human food is bad.
It isn’t bad for them but kitten food is designed with more protien and things that a kitten needs to grow. Also their teeth aren’t really developed enough to chew the adult cat food and if you notice them having a hard time eating it then you can water the food down to make it softer. If you really want to feed them kitten you can put them on a schedule until the little guy is ready for adult food. Jus feed them twice a day with some snacks in between. That will also help with the adult cats weight and keep their weight from getting out of hand. After a while they will get used to the schedule and start hitting you up around feeding time. We have one cat out of our six who always came to us like a half hour before feed time to remind us to feed him. Hope this helps.
