I just found out my dog has diabetes. I just gave up a class to be able to support my dog and before we were hanging on a thread. Now I don’t think I can take care of him financially. I don’t have anyone who can help me. What do I do? Should I just give him up to a rescue?

My dog is about 3 years old and everynight he pee’s in the spare bedroom on the carpet. I have tried everything. Sometimes he poops there too. Every Morning I wake up to find either pee on the carpet or poop and pee on the carpet. I have tried spraying some stuff I bought from the pet supply store that claims your dog won’t pee in the spot you spray it in. I have steam cleaned the carpet to remove the old scent. That didn’t work. I’ve tried keeping the door to bedroom closed at night so he won’t go in there but instead he’ll pee in the corner of my dining room. so now I have two area’s of the house where he will go and pee. I’ve tried not giving him water before bed time and I make sure I walk him and he pee’s outside before we go to bed. Nothing is working. I’m just desperate to get him to stop. Please help!

I have two feeder fish and I have them in a goldfish bowl and they keep blowing bubbles. why? Now before you get on me let me plead my case, first I went to the local store and talked with the pet department before i bought them. I informed them that I wanted to get a fish for my seven year old. I asked them What did I need and was Prepared to by a tank and system I was also prepared to buy a more expensive fish as well. They told me because I was just starting out to just get two feeders and a bowl they are cheap ($.15 each) little maintenance would be required at the most change the water once a week , feed them once a day, and I asked questions like how much water, how long do the water need to sit, etc… They told me 48 hours use tap water or distilled water.I did everything required and bought the two fish ( they told me the fish would get lonely and wouldn’t survive by itself) I have found to be not the case When I called a Pet store in another city, the person there told me that they would eventually drown in a year or so and to come in and buy a beta. and that they require even less maintenance. i did come to this… I feed the fish smaller amounts once in the morning and once in the night… I change the water 3 times a week I went to the store and bout a whole bunch of distilled water and let it sit out to stay room temperature, my water change is about 98% clean water and that’s so they have a better chance- they seem to swim better and eat than they did when i was doing the 50-60%. I use a strainer and rinse the rocks and tiny plant that came with the bowl. I have a bare bowl that i have them in for a few hours while I clean their house. I am going to buy a 29/30 gallon tank tomorrow I even though I see they com with starer sets ( filters, nets , water diffusers, etc) I want to know what THEY REALLY NEED TO SURVIVE AND BE HEALTHY? Will that be a too small tank ? What extra supplies do i need? What do I really need to do to the tank and whats the proper waiting time before I can put them into the tank? When should I change the filters. And If the question comes into your head why didn’t I give them away the answer is no one i have encountered has an acceptable tank( most people have a 10-20 gallon with 10-15 fish, they are looking at their size because they are small no one thinks they need more room) and the store told me I could bring the fish back dead. I am looking for good solid sound advice not criticism, not saying that opinions don’t matter But i’m not the one giving the advice or own stores with large amounts of fish in 10 gallon tanks or that sells these damaging fish bowls with deceiving pictures of 1 or 2 fish in a bowl to have people thinking that its safe. I also came across something stating that a fish only grows the size of the tank its in and in something else stating that a while a fish outside stops growing the inside doesn’t and that their organs cet compressed and eventually die, which is true? Now i want these fish to have good comfortable home (a house is what you live in a home is what you live in and where you want to remain) for these fish their lives are priceless and they are depending on us take care of them. I hope I have given enough details maybe too much.So now that have pleaded my case Its time for you to pass judgment and give me my advice please… Thanks
p.s. sorry if I offend anyone.
i
well what kind of water do l use which is better purified distilled plain tap. I didn’t know about this site until i just came across it yesterday I’m not really a internet user. As for me not doing research I asked people who already have tanks for years and like l stated they have 10-20 gallon tanks with 10-15 fish and i was not basing that on what i seen in the store. I was going off the advice i got from the store l bought them from ( l went in 3 times before i bought the stuff) and the advice from the other pet store so i was trying to research and I was not given the right advice. lt’s not my faylt they are giving out the wrong advice ,

I just received an e-mail from my cousin’s friend who rescued several lab puppies. She can’t keep them all and may have to take them to animal control soon if she can’t find anyone to adopt them. I’m considering taking one or two in, but I need to know the total cost, per year for caring for dogs first.

I was told that live plants will help reduce the nitrates/nitrites in my goldfishes’ aquarium (10 gall.-just two little goldfish). Which plants should I start with and how do I tend to them? Thank you!
I already have plastic plants for esthetic reasons, but I really think I need the live plants because I can’t get my nitrate/nitrite/ammonia levels down no matter what I do, and I am losing fish.

2-3 times, my parrot (that has a cage but is on an open perch during the day) has climbed (or attempted to fly) off and started walking around. The last time was found climbing the stairs to me when I went to investigate.
I spend time with her as often as I can and keep her close, but there are times that I put her away to a perch near her cage so she is quiet or at least not loud and bothersome so I can watch some TV.
I guess I could start locking her up during the day when not near her, but I’d rather not. Then she can still roam from purch to cage and back. (both are on pedastals.)
Or, do I have to deal with it or what?
I’d like her to have freedom but also be safe. (yes, I have a cat belonging to my daughter.)
Advise, suggestions, knowledge to impart??
No, I don’t spray to punish. Only a fine mist sprayer to wash with.
She does not wander around the house, and I try to let her watch TV on a kitchen perch but my husband doesn’t like it when she mutters or joins in the dialog. She was only alone for about an hour or so and I don’t know when during THAT she climbed down. She was only about 2-3 steps up the stairs.
Oh, and she’s Oogie, a yellow naped amazon.
I’ll pick the best of you, but thanks all for your imput. I wondered about your experience and fixes. I guess I’ll have to start thinking about putting her into her cage when I leave for a movie on TV.

I know that Petsmart is very, very bad, after looking at this video:
http://www.peta.org/feat-petsmart-video.asp
My question is, considering the fact that I have a dog, 2 gerbils, and a betta fish, where do I buy supplies now? I don’t want to buy from Petsmart, knowing how bad there conditions are. So how do I not buy from the pet store, but still keep my animals alive?
btw- I have another pet store in my town, and that’s it. B&B Pet Stop, in Mobile. They told us that they also have a "backroom", so I know that can’t be good. I don’t know what pet stores to trust, I don’t know where to buy my pet supplies now. I mean what if my gerbils run out of food? I’ve pledged not to buy from Petsmart, but they need food!! Petsmart, and B&B are bad places, and i don’t want to shop there, but I have no choice! I don’t have any other pet stores in Mobile, except Bark Avenue Pets, but that place is strictly about dogs.
does this make since to anybody?
Before I watched that video, I always went to Petsmart, for my Pet supplies needs. Now where do I turn too?

I am wondering if anyone has ever had any luck with a butcher giving you left over parts that nobody wants like organs?
My aussie had a mast-cell tumor that was surgically removed and I have opted to further treat her with a natural diet that I am making for her.
I wonder if grocery stores would give you expired meat from the meat department. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
